Great Wall of China – Original Song

Here’s a song I wrote with Anje Dowler and Scott Southworth back a few years ago. I randomly started playing the guitar part today and remembered it…I needed to sing it then…of course 😉

Great Wall of China
Ben Ward, Anje Dowler, Scott Southworth

You let me get close, but you won’t let me in
You block my approach with a suspicious grin
I’ve circled your fortress, hoping to find
A crack in your armor…just the slightest sign

Chorus:
The Great Wall of China
Yeah, The Great Wall of China…
Aint got nothing on you

The work is impressive, must have taken some time
To build those bricks up so strong and so high
But what have you gained in your prison of stone
You may be safe but you’re all alone, and

Chorus

They say a little faith tumbled Jericho’s walls
I’ll keep believing always catch you when you fall

It’s alright you don’t have to be scared
You’re not alone baby I’ve been there
You can escape that mountain of fear
Take a step out, watch it disappear

Chorus

New We are the Wards Vlog!

I really want to try and get the vlog going weekly again. I ❤️ sharing but also ❤️ having them to watch back on. Especially Harper’s growth. So, here’s to trying! (If you’re wondering it’s just the time factor…the editing…and the need for sleep…how did I do it for 1 1/2 years five times a week?????)

Gift of Time

This is Harper’s second week of preschool. He’s there from 8-2:30 M-F so on my day off, Monday, I have some time to just sit and do whatever I want…forgot about that kind of time! Olivia had a sub class early so I’ve been sitting on the front porch listening to the cicadas sing and reading a bit.

This Atlantic article so far:

This is devastating reading about yet another way in which our African American brothers and sisters have been cheated and swindled and stolen from. Lord have mercy.

I’m reading two books right now (which I don’t love doing – but my holds keep coming up at the library so I have to make it work!)

The Crucifixion by Fleming Rutledge

And

If Beale Street Could Talk by James Baldwin

Both very good so far.

Signing off to read!!
