Proverbs 21:31 (New International Version)
The horse is made ready for the day of battle,
but victory rests with the LORD.
Love being here with O in LA as she gets ready for the Biggest Loser Finale. I’ve been the “gym bag carrier” (in the winter I was the “coat carrier”:). I love it…first off, to be with her after these months of filming and being apart. But also because I’m so in awe of how she is training and how focused she is on the goal, the prize. I love this scripture and it’s what I’ve felt as I worked out beside her and seen the passion in her eyes. She is doing everything she can to prepare for the day of battle (the final weigh in) and the victory rests with God. That’s His realm. Like Paul says in Ephesians, “When you’ve done all, stand.”
On Tuesday, she will have done all. And she can stand.
Victory rests with the Lord.
Ben, I have watched Olivia this season on The Biggest Loser- one word, WOW! Needless to say I searched youtube to find some of her singing and stumbled upon you (I’m sure you get this a lot, ‘Olivia’s husband’), what a joy your music is to the world. Not to mention what an amazing support system Olivia has- I wanted to say thank you for sharing your music and love with the world!
Thanks so much for your kind words, Nicki! I’m so proud of Olivia 🙂
I found your site for the same reason Nicki did. Congratulations on your extraordinary weight loss, and on your wife’s courage and persistence. Congratulations also on your music. I quite like it.
I’m sure the two of you must be incredibly busy, but I hope your wife posts clips of herself singing while she is still in the public eye. What an opportunity!
Thanks, Brit!
I just knew Olivia was a believer! I watched her all season and she truly shined. What an amazing couple you two are. Congrats on your weight loss! You both look amazing.
Thanks, Julia!
Hi, Ben! My name is Chelsey Thompson and I’m a middle school choir director at a public school in Indiana. I’ve loved following you and your wife’s story and have enjoyed your music as well! I don’t know what better way to communicate with you, but I would love to have you and your wife in to perform with my choirs. I would love to get in touch with you via email to simply let you know what I have in mind and see if you guys would be interested, without boring all of your blog readers! If you have any interest at all, please contact me at chelseythompson@gmail.com! I absolutely understand if life is to busy for such things- but I’d love to hear from you!
Thanks and God Bless!
Chelsey
My apologies for the typo… ::too:: busy for such things!
As a Biggest Loser fan, I never imagined that I would come across a contestant I was in high school choir with! What a blessing it has been to watch the strength and heart for the Lord that I saw in Olivia as a teenager being increased as she has faced this amazing challange this year. And what an even greater blessing to see that she has married such a loving and obviously head-over-heels in love with her man to support her! I think the coolest thing is that your own weight loss speaks so loudly of your desire to be in on what God wants to do in you as a couple. Well, there’s a second coolest thing… Olivia that is on tv is the real Olivia, and THAT is introducting the sweetness and realness of Christ to many who would not otherwise have chosen to see his magnificence. It may sound like a strange statement, but if the girl was was the same in high school as she is now as a 30-something (and on national television, at that!), it is understandable how the God of the universe has caused droves of people to fall in love with your story. The integrity and truth of the Living God is all over you guys and people are getting a taste of what God is like through both of you living out loud for him. I pray for continued favor on your marriage, your ministries and your vocations. May the God of grace give you wisdom and hide you under the shadow of his wing in this strange, new and invigorating season of life. I’d love to catch up with you guys (haha… I feel like I know you through her. I bet you hear that a lot.), but I also know that you are both in a reeeeeeeeally busy season of life. Feel free to look me up on facebook to confirm that I am who I say I am. : ) Until someday — Lord bless them!!
Thank you, Wendy! I’ll definitely pass on your message to Olivia 🙂
So great to read your blog and how you put your faith in the Lord! thanks for standing next to your wife as she fought in this battle! 🙂 Praise the Lord for you and Olivia!
Thank you Erin! Yes, He is worthy of praise!
And stand she did! It was really great to see you guys on this past season of BL. The scene where you two Skyped and you gave her a supportive pep talk was really touching and showed true leadership on your part. I’m not surprised to discover that you guys know the Lord! Praying that all good things will come of this experience for your families. 🙂
