Celebrating the life and faith of St. Francis of Assisi, 1226 in the Church Calendar. October 4, 2023.

Our general order and lectionary comes from the Book of Common Prayer Daily Office. We’ll sing “All Creatures of Our God and King” by St. Francis with a prayer of confession. We’ll read Psalm 148:7-14 followed by the Gloria Patri. Our Scripture lesson is Matthew 11:25-30 . We’ll say the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Collect of the Day followed by a time of spontaneous, prompted prayer.

Art: Saint Francis in the World, Andrea McLean

Francis of Assisi, Friar, 1226 – Most high, omnipotent, good Lord, grant your people grace to renounce gladly the vanities of this world; that, following the way of blessed Francis, we may for love of you delight in your whole creation with perfectness of joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
