Celebrating Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch, and Martyr, Tuesday, Proper 23 in the Church Calendar
Our general order and lectionary comes from the Book of Common Prayer Daily Office. We’ll sing the song “Rest on Us” by Brandon Lake, Elyssa Smith, Harvest Bashta, Jonathan Jay, Rebekah White, and Tony Brown. We’ll then offer a Prayer of Confession. We’ll read Psalm 116:1-8 followed by the Gloria Patri. Our Scripture Lesson is John 12:23-26 . We’ll say the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Collect of the Day. We’ll then have a time of prompted prayer.

Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch, and Martyr, c. 115 – Almighty God, we praise your Name for your bishop and martyr Ignatius of Antioch, who offered himself as grain to be ground by the teeth of wild beasts that he might present to you the pure bread of sacrifice. Accept, we pray, the willing tribute of our lives and give us a share in the pure and spotless offering of your Son Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
