Excited to have art by a new artist here on Morning Prayer. I met Rianna Turner at my son’s school and I first saw her do a live painting at an event! So honored that she would be a part of the community here. Be sure to check out more of her paintings!

Thank you for giving to support this ministry. You can go here to find out more.

It’s the first Tuesday of Advent in the Church Calendar. December 5, 2023

Our general order and lectionary comes from the Book of Common Prayer Daily Office. We’ll sing “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” by Charles Wesley and Rowland Prichard with a prayer of confession. We’ll read Psalms 5 and 6 followed by the Gloria Patri. Our Scripture lesson is 2 Peter 1:12-21 . We’ll say the Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the Collect of the Day followed by a time of spontaneous, prompted prayer.

First Sunday of Advent – Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
